About Us

For more than 40 years, the annual "29 Palms Boys Basketball Tournament," hosted by the City of Twentynine Palms Recreation Department, has attracted hundreds of competitive youngsters from all over California, Nevada, and Arizona. The historic annual event is held during the last weekend of March each year. In March 2002, a first-ever Mural-in-a-Day project was created to celebrate the 44th tournament. Created by artist Art Mortimer of Santa Monica, CA, the mural was painted by a team of 21 local artists in one day on the 22-foot by 44-foot east wall of the handball courts in Luckie Park. The mural is located at the corner of Joe Davis Drive and Utah Trail, Twentynine Palms. Dedicated: March 23, 2002..
